To ensure safe transportation and handling by our carriers, stevedores and vessel operations personnel, your motorcycle must be drivable, free from leaking fluids and in clean condition.

Size Restrictions

Overall bike length must be 96" or less; maximum tire width is 8". If your motorcycle exceeds these restrictions; please contact our Pasha Hawaii Sales Representative at (866) 363-7485.

Preparing Your Motorcycle for Shipment

In order to ensure safe transportation, handling and delivery of your motorcycle by our stevedores and vessel operations personnel, all motorcycles must meet the requirements in our Motorcycle Shipping Guide.

Gas

Pasha Hawaii has a minimum gasoline level requirement of 1⁄4 tank for motorcycles transported on our ship.

Battery powered motorcycles

Our port locations do not have charging stations for battery-powered vehicles. Please tender motorcycle with maximum charge of 30% at drop off and turn on energy saving options if available. Please limit remote monitoring of your electric motorcycle while in Pasha Hawaii inventory to reduce changes of battery drainage. Pasha Hawaii will not be responsible for dead batteries or otherwise inoperable conditions. Client may be responsible for incremental charges related to inoperable vehicles onboard a Pasha Hawaii vessel.

Personal Effects

All personal items must be removed from the motorcycle prior to shipping. Pasha Hawaii will not accept a motorcycle containing any personal items in the storage compartments or saddlebags of the motorcycle. Motorcycles cannot be covered in any manner. If you have a motorcycle in a crate, please contact our Oversize Cargo department.

Motorcycle Condition

All motorcycles tendered to Pasha Hawaii for shipment must be in safe operating condition. Loose motorcycles must be drivable, free of leaking fluids and in a clean condition to allow for an accurate inspection at the origin port. We recommend motorcycles be serviced prior to shipping to ensure mechanical and safety problems are corrected. Pasha Hawaii will provide a copy of inspection report to customer.

Requirements When Delivering to the Port

Shipping to Hawaii

  • Copy of Booking Confirmation or the Booking Number
  • Set of keys to ignition and every locked compartment
  • Copy of motorcycle registration (faxed or emailed at time of booking)
  • Drop-off appointment. The appointment must be made prior to drop off.

Shipping from Hawaii

U.S. Department of Agriculture Requirements: in an effort to prevent the accidental transportation of agricultural pests from Hawaii, the USDA is requiring all shippers of motorcycles to sign a Shipper's Declaration indicating the motorcycle does not contain any of the following:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Cotton balls or seed cotton
  • Sugar cane or parts thereof
  • Straw and grass as packing or otherwise pulpy seeds, such as coffee berries, plants, soil or live insects and snails

Additionally, all motorcycles need to be thoroughly washed and cleaned to comply with USDA requirements. Pasha Hawaii cannot accept motorcycles that do not meet these requirements. We recommend the following cleaning procedures be followed prior to delivery of your motorcycle to Pasha Hawaii:

  • Empty all compartments
  • Wash exterior thoroughly, paying special attention to the engine, tires, fender wells and undercarriage of motorcycle. Steam cleaning or pressure washing is preferable.
  • Inspect entire motorcycle to ensure it is free of any dirt, mud, seeds or other unauthorized material.

Note: USDA strictly enforces the above requirements and Pasha Hawaii is committed to fully comply with all State and Federal regulations.

State law requires the following documents when shipping a motorcycle from Hawaii:

  • Picture ID
  • Original motorcycle registration and title or notarized copies notarized lien holder letter of authorization – If the motorcycle is financed, a notarized letter of authorization is required from the lien holder allowing the motorcycle to be shipped. The letter must include the motorcycle's year, make and model, VIN (vehicle identification number), destination port and name of person authorized to ship the motorcycle.
  • Absentee Owner – If a motorcycle is co-owned and co-owner is not present at our port facility, a notarized letter is required from the absent owner authorizing the motorcycle to be shipped.

You will receive an Arrival Notice via email after your motorcycle is safely loaded and secured on our vessel. This notification will be sent to the consignee's email address.

Depending on your location, we work with outside facilities in addition to our own terminals to receive or deliver your vehicles.  Please note that due to the requirement for an appointment at these facilities, if you arrive without an appointment, you may be assessed a convenience fee of $150.  Without having an appointment, the facility may not be ready to handle your vehicle and may turn you away.

Picking Up Your Motorcycle at Destination

Typical transit time from port to port will range from 5 to 7 days, depending on when your motorcycle is delivered to our port facility and the next scheduled sailing. We can provide an estimated date of arrival at the time of your booking. We urge you to pick up your motorcycle promptly to avoid payment of storage charges. Please note that a notarized letter of authorization is required if anyone other than the person named on the shipping documents will pick up your motorcycle. At the time you book your motorcycle with Pasha Hawaii, we will provide your motorcycle's estimated arrival date at the destination port. Once your motorcycle is loaded on board, an Arrival Notice will be sent to the Consignee's Email and/or Mailing Address. A Pasha Hawaii Representative will contact you to schedule an appointment to pick up your motorcycle. Please bring the Arrival Notice and a Photo ID when picking up your motorcycle. (Note: A notarized letter of authorization is required if anyone other than the person named on the shipping documents will pick up your automobile) A storage fee (at all ports) of $25 per day will be assessed for motorcycles left beyond the complimentary free time. The allowable free time (Business Days) before storage charges are assessed is 4 days.

We will conduct an inspection of your motorcycle and prepare a survey report when you deliver your motorcycle to our port facility. This survey is performed for the benefit of Pasha Hawaii and the motorcycle owner to thoroughly document the condition of the motorcycle upon receipt at the port. Any existing damage will be noted and verified by you or your designated agent. You will be asked to inspect your motorcycle at the destination port to ensure your motorcycle is delivered to you in the same condition. Pasha Hawaii is not responsible for mechanical issues.Pasha Hawaii inspects your motorcycle and prepares a survey report when you deliver your motorcycle to our port facility. This survey is performed for the benefit of Pasha Hawaii and the motorcycle owner to thoroughly document the condition of the motorcycle upon receipt at the port. Pre-existing damage will be noted and verified by you or your designated agent. Motorcycles are designed for road use and may acquire small chips, scratches, scuffs, dents, abrasions or similar marks. The Pasha Group/Pasha Hawaii as a carrier does not accept liability for minor damage of this or similar nature which is considered to be normal wear and tear. Inspection of the motorcycle prior to shipment represents the motorcycle's general overall condition and excludes normal wear and tear. Batteries may become discharged during our possession and Pasha cannot be responsible for replacing dead batteries. You will be asked to inspect your motorcycle at the destination port to ensure your motorcycle is delivered to you in the same condition. Should you note any exceptions, please document it and notify your Pasha Hawaii representative prior to leaving the port facility.

Liability

We take every precaution to ensure each vehicle we transport is handled with care. In the unlikely event your vehicle is damaged during the shipment process and Pasha Hawaii is responsible for that damage, our liability is limited to the cost of repairs for damage actually sustained to your vehicle, not to exceed the market value of your vehicle and, in no event, more than $3,000, per Rule 22 of the terms and conditions of our Bill of Lading.  Our policy regarding transit related damage can be found as Rule 20 in our Pasha Hawaii FFW Tariff.  This liability limit can be increased through the purchase of Shipper’s Interest insurance, being offered by our Customer Care Representatives, up to the declared value of your vehicle, based upon clean retail value price per NADA, or alternatively up to the valuation provided by an authorized vehicle appraiser of your choosing.  Such appraiser will be certified by the Independent Auto Appraisers Certification Program (IACP) and be registered with the Bureau of Certified Auto Appraisers. Please check with your personal insurance carrier to determine the extent of your current coverage relating to marine transportation.

Filing a Claim

In the unlikely event your motorcycle sustains damage while in our care we will act promptly to remedy the situation within the limits of our contractual liability. Our claims office will contact you within 2 business days of the receipt of your claim form and will provide you with additional instructions. Motorcycles are designed for road use and may acquire small chips, scratches, scuffs, dents, abrasions or similar marks. Pasha Hawaii as a carrier does not accept liability for minor damage of this or similar nature which is considered to be normal wear and tear. Inspection of the vehicle prior to shipment represents the vehicle's general overall condition and excludes normal wear and tear damage.
